It's not possible to automize that completely.
I have to insert new games (new records in database) with different starting parameters to start a game. I always put a bulk of 80 games in one step in the database. Each game has a different starting position and each bulk has different options for the engine. So I always create different games.

What kinds of options are there?

See this thread:

I plan at least 1000 matches per position = 960,000 games. With a rate of 50 games per day we need 19200 days (52 years) with the current speed. ;-)

But I hope for more speed in future.

As you see we don't have any problems to deliver enough work in future.

Of course every of the 960 starting positions has to be played more than once ;)
So have no fear that Chess960 will run out of possibilities in the next years :)

at this rate, we are going to complete all 960 games rather quickly, aren't we?

What are the plans for this project once that happens? If this has been discussed already, I appologize. Just point me in the right direction and I will find the answers myself.

It's not much work to do it but I recognize that I have to do it more often in the last days. Thats a good sign for the project.

I cannot exactly say how many games we complete per day. Each game gives 400-500 credits (my private estimation depending on the number of moves in it). Today we reached 24,000 credits per day. That means 48-60 games per day.

He has to add new games manually, that's not what can be managed automatically (ok, it can, but it needs a lot of work). If there are incomplete games, the generator automatically ensures there is as much work as possible.

That's my job to take care. :-)

Jonas, do you have to manually start the work generator? If so, why not put some high water and low water marks in a cron job. That way there was always be a certain number of wu's on hand.

The short supply of work units may have to do with my Team's mini "crunch-a-thon" for this project. There are almost a dozen of us that are concentrating on this project for this weekend only to increase our standings. According to Boincstats, we generated nearly 3.3 times the credit in the last day as the next highest team.

By Day
1 SETI.USA 4,806
2 SETI.Germany 1,433

Just wondering, how often does Chess960 send out xml stats?

Thanks JonasD,

Ready to send down to 216 already. How many work units is Chess960 currently processing per day or per hour?

Regards,

Andy.

Oh no, we've run out of work!!!

Does anyone know when they'll be some more?

Back to crunching SETI till Chess960 has more work.
